quadmed AG is an independent insurance broker working exclusively in aesthetic medicine since 2007. We design the products, broker them and handle contracts and claims. We are known through our brands: beautyprotect, lipo-protect, cosmetics-protect and beauty.credit.
2007
How it came about
In the late 2000s practices kept running into the same situation: a complication occurred after an aesthetic procedure, it had to be treated medically — and nobody paid. Health insurers pointed out that the procedure had been elective. Private insurers had no product on the shelf for this case. What remained were patients with a bill and doctors with a conflict they could not resolve.
We closed that gap together with a leading German professional association for plastic and aesthetic surgery and a risk carrier, and turned it into a product: beautyprotect. The association brought the medical perspective, the insurer the risk, and we the construction and the distribution.
Since then a whole product category has grown out of it. There are competitors now, comparison sites and tests. In 2007 there was none of that.

No range of home, motor and beauty on the side. Exclusively aesthetic medicine since 2007 — which is why we know the procedures, the typical complications and the doctors.
We are independent
As a broker we stand on our clients' side, not an insurer's. Which company carries the risk has changed over the years — our standard for the product has not.
Our service centre is not a call centre
Reachable six days a week, staffed by people who have done nothing else for years but resolve complications.
We know the doctors from data
12,742 reported complications produce a picture no review platform has: who does good work, consistently, over years. That is where the Competence Centers come from.

As of August 2026. Figures come from our own systems and are updated quarterly. The 12,742 reported complications are counted from the point we moved to our current insurance partner — the years before that sit in the previous partner's systems and are not included here. So the real number is higher.

They exist. Of 12,742 complications reported, we paid in 12,370 — that is 97.1 per cent. We list the rest here as well, because a ratio without the other side is not a ratio, it is advertising.

Two reasons lie behind almost every declined case. First, pre-existing conditions: complaints that were already there before the cover started — a drooping eyelid that existed beforehand, for example. Second, dissatisfaction with the result: if the look you wanted was not achieved but there is no medically demonstrable, unexpected complication, it is not an insured event. Both can be clarified beforehand, and that is exactly what our service centre is for. Call before you take out cover, not after.
